This is Mark Garrett, Superintendent of McDowell County Schools. I apologize for the late call, but I have an important announcement for the North Cove Elementary School community. Earlier this evening a major water leak was discovered just outside the school. As a result of the water issue, North Cove Elementary School will be on a two-hour delay for students on Tuesday, November 6. All other schools will operate on a regular schedule.
Maintenance crews have pinpointed the issue and are now in the process of repairing the main water line that supplies the building. Once the repairs are complete, curing time will take several hours before we can run water through the line.
A crew will be on site overnight and throughout the early morning hours to make sure the water is operable and ready for students to be on campus. The delay will allow us time in the morning to make any additional schedule adjustments that might be necessary.
Thank you for your understanding.
