I am so excited to be teaching first grade at North Cove Elementary! I am in my eleventh year as a teacher in McDowell County Schools. During those eleven years I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and English as a Second Language. I am very blessed to be a part of the North Cove school community!
My family and I live in Pleasant Gardens and attend PG Baptist Church. Outside of school, my family is the most important part of my life. I have been married for over fifteen years to my husband Vann and together we have three children, Madgie (age 15), Gunner (age 6), and Izzy Mae (born in October of 2016). We enjoy spending time together, whether it's playing outside or going on adventures. We live on a farm and have several animals that I often share stories about with my students.
As a teacher, I believe that EVERY student is capable of learning and making contributions to the classroom. I strive to build student independence and leadership within my classroom by modeling and guiding expectations throughout the school year to make them successful learners. The students that pass through my classroom become a part of my life, not only for the year they are in my classroom, but for the remainder of their lives. For this reason, I often refer to them as "my kiddos."
